I picked up the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette a while ago from Sephora NZ.
Unfortunately this palette was limited edition, so may be a bit difficult to get your hands on now.
This is definitely the biggest palette I own, however I don’t have trouble storing it as it’s actually quite thin and fits in the IKEA drawers perfectly fine. For reference it’s about 1.5 times the width of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.
The logo is such a cool design idea, as it changes the word from Metal to Matte depending which way you hold it up. The logo is an embossed silver material so does stick up from the palette and I’ve noticed this has started to wear away slightly where it rubs against other products in my drawers.
There are 13 matte shades, and there is a great variety of shades. I like that there is a transitional brown shade, a black, a cream and a variety of brighter colours to be able to create so many different looks.
I find a lot of the matte shades a bit chalky, and some definitely have to be built up and worked with a fair bit to show up pigmented on your eyes. Jet and Velour are the best quality, and are not patchy at all. The purples are definitely not the best, as well as some of the lighter shades, but I find that happens with a lot of palettes.
I cannot fault these beautiful eyeshadows. There are 9 metals, which are foiled eyeshadows, and the palette is worth the money just for these 9 shades. The quality is perfect, and there is once again a great variety of shades to be able to create many eye looks with. The pigmentation of all of them is amazing with only one swipe, and they feel very creamy.
I’m pleased I bought this palette, I think the matte eyeshadows could definitely have been better, but for me the metal eyeshadows make the palette worth it. I was a bit worried about the size of the palette, but I have no problems storing it.
Let me know if you’ve tried out this palette, and what you think of it.
